The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday dismissed allegations of paper leaks during the ongoing Class 10 and 12 board examinations, labeling them “baseless” and an effort to cause unnecessary panic among students and parents.
The CBSE exams, which began on Saturday, are being taken by over 42 lakh students at more than 7,800 centers both in India and abroad. The board noted that 24.12 lakh Class 10 students are sitting for exams in 84 subjects, while more than 17.88 lakh Class 12 students are appearing for exams across 120 subjects.
In an official statement, the CBSE clarified, “It has come to the Board’s attention that certain individuals are spreading rumors on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and other social media channels, alleging paper leaks or claiming to have access to the 2025 exam question papers. These claims are entirely unfounded and are meant to create unnecessary panic.”
The board assured the public that rigorous measures have been put in place to ensure a fair and smooth examination process. It also issued a warning against spreading or engaging with such misinformation, stressing that “students involved in such activities will face penalties under CBSE’s Unfair Means rules and the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).”
CBSE is actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with law enforcement to take action against those spreading false claims. “Legal action will be pursued against anyone found responsible for disseminating misinformation to maintain the integrity of the examination process,” the statement added.
The board urged students, parents, and schools to rely exclusively on official updates available through the CBSE website (www.cbse.gov.in) and verified public channels. Additionally, it advised parents to help guide their children in avoiding engagement with unverified news.
